Glock 41 Reviews - I picked up this Glock 41 from one of their award shows at the USPSA show. Since then I have developed another change and used it in several local and special matches in the Heavy Metal division (3-Shot). I use it for some law enforcement classes and TPC, because one of our local LE organizations still issues Glock 21s to their officers, and the 45 is a G21SF with a long slide.
I sent this G41 to Taran Tactical Innovations for one of their Performance Packs. They lowered and dropped the handle, did the original work, installed a new rod and anti-spring as well as their eye (replacing the horrible stock plastic dovetail fillers). They also sent some of their magazine +4 additions which increases the total to 17. Although TTI is a great store (and one of my sponsors), most of this work can be done at home if you wanted to. The only .45-specific part is the Glockmeister guide rod.

I've come to the point where I don't like it, but I don't really hate it either. It works, holds a lot of ammo, and doesn't cost a lot. It has light loads, an excellent low-effort 3-Gun Heavy Metal, and is an acceptable (if not perfect; .45 ACP comes with a significant investment in recoil and efficiency) performance and defensive pistol.

If you really want to shoot the Heavy Metal division at a 3-Shot match that requires .45 Auto, this is the easiest way to do it. The Glock, you can buy it and expect it to work. It fits standard Glock 34 pistols without modifications, so if you already have a 34, you won't need a new holster. If you shoot Heavy on a game that allows full-capacity magazines, this holds as many rounds as a 2011 and seven more rounds (with TTI extensions) than a single-stack 1911. If the match is limited to a 10-round magazine (like an RM3G), a spare magazine costs less than $ 30 and it WILL come out of the wrapper (unlike a 1911 or 2011 magazine).

With the light and the striking spring (the two must go together or the striking spring will take the gun out of battery), it will work well with light .45 loads. The design is very similar to what you would do to a 9mm Glock for competition. It certainly won't be as good as the well-built 2011, but it won't cost much in money or runtime. I shoot the 9mm 2011 mostly in 3-Shot matches because the performance I get is worth the work and money as I use it 90% of the time. I use my Heavy Metal gear about 1% of the time, so I'd rather not invest a lot of money or stress into it. If all I shot was Heavy Metal I'd make an STI, but this G41 is perfect for someone like me who occasionally shoots a segment.
I used this gun in the He-Man at the 2018 Rocky Mountain 3-Gun and was very happy with it. Dead On Ammunition loaded some light .45 ammo using Berry's MFG 185gr HBRN bullet traveling at 730fps. I had one shooting-induced malfunction (finger riding on the slide, which is fine with full-power ammo but not good with light stuff), except that the gun worked with the operator.

Let me start by saying that I do not recommend the .45 ACP for a service pistol. 9mm works fine. But if you MUST use a .45 (either department policy or personal preference), then the G41 is probably the best choice. The grip (especially with some reduction if it is inside your guide) is small enough that someone with small hands can still hold it, it holds a good amount of ammo, and it is easier to shoot than the 4.5” barreled equivalent (the G21). and M&P .45). It is fed all types of ammo that I put in the magazine; three types of JHP, FMJ Round Nose, Flat Point and Semi-Wadcutter (not that you would use FMJ to do the job).
Also, I don't recommend the .45 for a self-defense pistol. But, if you want to use .45, then this is the one I would recommend for home use, for the same reasons it does a good job with a gun. It's a 5.3″ gun, so carrying it might be difficult, but if you can carry a G34 or 1911, you can carry a G41. If you already have a .45, you want to shoot it faster but don't want to. to buy another pistol, try some from Federal's Personal Defense Low Recoil Hydra-Shok. This load is a 165gr HydraShok bullet that travels at a (claimed) 1060fps. It's very good to shoot and has quick recoil. I was able to keep .50ish divisions on the IPSC A -Zone at 25 yards .

While most Glocks look similar, the Glock 41 stands out a bit because of its long slide and long column. They gave this gun a 5.31 inch barrel and the gun has an overall length of 8.78 inches. This gives the gun a closer look to the classic 1911 than the standard Glock. We have a feeling this was intentional, mostly to try to convince other 1911 die-hards to Glock. Considering how expensive a new 1911 is, it was a smart move on Glock's part. Because the price of the new Glock G41 Gen 4 is about half of the high-end 1911. Whatever they want, this is a great shot. The length is the same as that of the Glock 17 at 5.47 inches. However, the G41 Gen 4 is about four ounces heavier, 36.51 ounces with a fully loaded 13-round magazine.
On their website, Glock has the Glock 41 listed as a "competition" pistol. It makes sense, that the long slide and barrel give the gun a long sight radius. The company also claims that it helps reduce recoil and muzzle load compared to the company's other flagships such as the Glock 20 or Glock 30.

Glock also offers the Glock 41 Gen 4 MOS variant. This gun is similar in terms of style. It features the same reversible magazine catch and modular rear strap system as the standard Glock 41. The only difference is that it has a MOS configuration. This allows you to install the sight on the slide straight out of the box instead of buying a bunch of aftermarket parts.
While you will hear this gun compared to many other offerings in the Glock line, the best comparison is their .45 ACP offering, the very popular Glock 21. You might think that the larger frame of the Glock G41 Gen4 would do it. heavy. , but the G21 weighs a few ounces despite its magazine capacity and shorter barrel.
The only real difference is in the slide. Going back to that 1911 comparison again, Glock has significantly reduced the slide from the Glock 41. The difference is obvious when you compare the slides of these guns side by side. The G21 only has a solid slide which adds to the weight.
The Glock 21 is also slightly shorter in length and slightly longer than the G41, but again, these differences may not be noticeable unless you compare the two guns side-by-side.

As we have already mentioned, the Glock 41 was probably designed mainly with serious competition shooting in mind. That explains why they offer the Glock 41 Gen4 MOS variant. Even serious shooters will probably swap out some rear parts for a beefier trigger pull, and a new recoil spring assembly and adjustable sights.
However, there are some people who like to use this gun for concealed carry because they feel confident about the accuracy provided by the long sight radius. If you're worried about lengthening the slide, you probably shouldn't be. The gun is only long in name
